Parking is always a problem at Stanford, and I've tried to minimize the
inconvenience by providing all the attendees with daily "A" parking permits.
However, on the first day you arrive, you'll have to first park in an "A"
parking lot, come to the Gates building and pick up your permit, and then
quickly return to your car to hang the permit on the rear-view mirror before the
parking gestapo arrive. We will provide you with the permits for subsequent
days at the meeting, so you'll need to make two trips to the parking lot on the
first day only.
Where to park: Assuming you have a map of the campus (which you can get off the
web if you don't have one already), note that there is a parking lot directly
across Campus Drive from the Gates Building. That's as close as you can get to
Gates (it's closer than the building labeled Parking Structure). With an "A"
permit you can park in any slot in that parking lot, and there should be ample
space if you get there before 9am. The main entrance to Gates is on the south
side.
Please let me know if you need further clarification.
