It is impossible to correct every 'terminological mistake' ever made in
computer science, especially when we appeal to such different academic
traditions which already have their own established usages. Lets agree that
whatever we do is likely to offend somebody's linguistic sensibilities
(mine were worn down to stubble years ago) and get used to having to say
things like "Baz, in X's (1984) sense". The real damage is done by not
acknowledging that X might be using the word in a different way than one
likes oneself.
