Abstract: In this paper we discuss Poligon and Cage, two skeletal systems for the development of concurrent blackboard based applications, their architecture and the motivation for their design. A number of experiments have been performed in order to evaluate the performance of these systems. Some of these are detailed and the results derived are given. Lessons learned in the development of both Cage and Poligon are given and conclusions about the performance of similar systems are drawn.
