KANI Time Ontology

Reference: Fikes, R. & Makarios, S. KANI Time Ontology. Knowledge Systems Laboratory, June, 2004.

Abstract: We describe a time ontology for use in KANI, the Knowledge Associates for Novel Intelligence effort being conducted in the Novel Intelligence from Massive Data (NIMD) program of the intelligence community's Advanced Research and Development Activity (ARDA). Time-points, time-intervals, and durations are the primitive elements of the ontology, and from these are derived a variety of useful classes including those pertaining to commonly-used clock and calendar temporal descriptions.
