Abstract: The Semantic Web holds immense promise for the creation of a world-wide base of knowledge that can be consumed by people and by autonomous agents alike. However, numerous issues must be solved before the experience of using this data can be considered a seamless one. Issues arise as to the meaning, or semantics, of particular datums and claims which must be resolved if the data is to be put to any practical use. We discuss our experience with the creation of a world-wide knowledge Web, how and where these issues arise, and the techniques we have applied to resolve them.
